WITH wigs and war paint in abundance, the deluded "laydee" Emily would have failed to get a look-in when Little Britain star Matt Lucas celebrated his marriage to his long-term lover.

Guests at the most extravagant gay nuptials since Sir Elton John wed David Furnish were asked to dress as pantomime characters for an exuberant reception at London's sumptuous 400-year-old Banqueting House, in Whitehall.

As a small crowd outside cheered, a resplendent procession of Little Red Riding Hoods, moustachioed Captain Hooks, glittering Fairy Godmothers and Cinderella Buttonses arrived for the party.

Lucas, who plays Daffyd "the only gay in the village" in the show, sparkled in an exotic blue and gold Ali Baba number. His partner, television producer Kevin McGee, was a picture-perfect Prince Charming.Lucas's Little Britain co-creator and co-star, David Walliams, was Tweedledum. Or, was it Tweedledee? He wasn't saying.

London seemed to have exhausted its supply of Hook costumes - and chief among the Hooks was Sir Elton, who brought his own dashing Prince Charming, Mr Furnish.

Neil Tennant, of the Pet Shop Boys, and hypnotist Paul McKenna were among other pirate captains at the party.

Rocker Courtney Love left little to the imagination with a bust-projecting red satin gown.

Lucas, 32, and McGee, 30, have kept their relationship private since meeting at a nightclub four years ago. But interest in their celebration has been fuelled by the immense popularity of Lucas and Walliams.

Lucas and McGee arrived wearing the dark suits they wore for their civil ceremony earlier. But they soon re-emerged in all their sartorial splendour. -- TELEGRAPH.
