Marie Antoinette Look-alikes Prefer Tzatziki To Cake

WITH their Marie Antoinette-style wigs, elaborate costumes and musical instruments, the women from Cheeky Tzatziki are bound to attract curious looks.
If they can hold this attention, the foursome are doing their job.
Cheeky Tzatziki dress as four 18th-century women who entertain audiences with their roving minstrel style which tackles music of all styles and eras.
And yesterday the foursome took their street theatre to the Crown St Mall to gauge audience reaction to their art.
It was an important experiment for the women who have completed three days of a four-day street theatre workshop.
Cheeky Tzatziki are one of four Illawarra-based acts who used the Circus Monoxide space at Bellambi for a little one-on-one time with international performers.
Brisbane-based street theatre artist Trent Baumann worked with Tia Wilson, Melinda Wishart, Marianthe Loucataris and Ann Lehmann - otherwise known as Cheeky Tzatziki.
``It's great and it's a wonderful thing to do to get a different perspective on an act," Baumann said.
``It's a very interesting experience for me and exciting for the group of performers."
Cheeky Tzatziki said working with Baumann had allowed them to create a stronger performance, tighten the existing show and strengthen the characters.
This would help them react to audiences and develop their performance to a new level.
Cheeky Tzatziki will return to the Crown St Mall tomorrow as part of a Street Theatre Festival Day where performers including POG, Sandy and Gillian from Circus WOW, Pam and Dee from Circus WOW, Cath Woodger and Janine Hilder from Circus Solarus and Sue Broadway will strut their stuff. Out-of-town artists including Perth's Scott Chocolate and JP from Sydney will also demonstrate their street and circus performance skills.
The festival will run from 11am to 4pm with performances throughout the day.
